A few weeks ago, in my post introducing the 17 candidates for the District 65 board, I included an anonymous (but logged in to guarantee uniqueness) survey about the upcoming election.
72 readers responded, which a non-random sample of 3% of the overall FOIA Gras readership. Respondents could select more than one option in all categories, so most of the results will not add up to 100%.
If you’re one of the candidates, keep in mind that this is an incredibly unscientific survey rife with statistical bias and lacking any i.i.d assumptions. It’s just a survey that 72 of you bothered to fill out. The bottom two candidates didn’t have a profile on the site at the time of the survey, so caveat emptor on these results. During the election, I am going to try to conduct at least one non-biased bona-fide poll.
Survey respondents could vote on as many candidates as they liked (read about the candidates here):
In terms of topics, the results line up with metrics of this blog. Mainly, readers care a lot about financial sustainability but not that much about property taxes. I was surprised that more than half the survey respondents listed “Superintendent Changes” as a topic I should discuss with candidates.
I failed to include a few topics, but mostly I left out “Special Education” which many of you listed in the other category. I think that’s a hugely important topic so I’ll make sure to include that in conversations I have with candidates.
I didn’t take the survey, but I know there are lots of people concerned about the excessive use and age inappropriateness of iPads.
When you interview these people ask about this, please.
Hi Tom,
What were the topics you decided go leave out?
