How about all cabinet members that provide nothing for the district but are putting us further in the hole, financially? Do we really need a deputy superintendent?
Talking about needless cabinet positions, at least we don't have a "Chief of Staff" for the Superintendent anymore (she followed him down to GA and the position never got relisted)
Or what about the deputy superintendent position, or the assistant superintendent of safety and operations, or Chief of Schools when you have an Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Why are these positions needed?!?!
Is it concerning that the Dir of Technology is getting the axe?
I’m happy to see other admin positions going by the wayside. Not so much the sped and art teachers. I don’t know what adapt phys ed is, but if it is for differently-abled kids, I don’t like it. Unless there is a performance problem with these teachers, of course. I think Turner’s sister and all the other bs admin roles should be axed before a single student-facing position is.
This Board feels so corrupt for the kind of city we live in and the values we purport to have. I really want to know who is teaching them how to circumvent all these rules (if not literally, then the spirit of them).
Or none at all. Don’t assume they take advantage of legal counsel. My experience is that this happens only when forced. The hubris (in both districts) in admin/BOE thinking they know all or don’t need help is flabbergasting.
Tom, appreciate all your effort to educate us. Recall reading lots of revenue spent on equity - education / admin / consultants etc. Was that the main cause for the $ crunch ?
It was a lot of things and I think that's a big part of it but not the entire story which involves transportation costs, a new school being built, and declining enrollment (and hence lower state revenue)

Phys Ed teacher I can confirm was fired for cause, I just didn’t include the performance review in the docs
As for the rules, my opinion is that they get crappy legal advice

Stay tuned - story on this coming soon

Aren’t the lease certificate payments for the school basically equal to this year’s budget deficit?
😬
