You seem racist and like a socialist. You fit perfect at d65- which has a entire woke and culture war curriculum. The entire left and people that run sites like you act like this. Perhaps you favor transgenderism for children. Surely anyone that uses the word The is a problem. More made up language like pronouns. Why don’t you go look at EvanstonNow recent article about decline in enrollment and look at the comment section and then come and reread your post. You are just like them

Another anonymous EvanstonNow shitposter. If you're such a tough guy, use your real name

I am not surprised this has been happening to you lately. There is a commenter on EvanstonNow who keeps encouraging people to come here. They obviously aren't reading your info page when they do, or they'd know you aren't tolerating the same kind of crap.

I don’t care if they come here and comment but like.. if you show up, read one post and then insult me, I am not going to put up with it. They are welcome to make an argument but this nonsense whining about socialism is not that.

This is not the forum for FOX news style culture war complaints. Keep that garbage over on the EN comment section where they are happy to entertain it.

There are plenty of arguments against the equity curriculum or district policy. If you would like to make those, be my guest. Just be respectful and avoid national culture war issues is all I am saying.

What does Evanston now have to do with this person? That’s not fair to EN, Tom

Expand full comment

Ask EN about their comment policy and whether they approve comments they politically disagree with.

Edit: Upon further reflection, you are right, this was not fair to EN. To be fair to myself, I didn't have my coffee yet and am feeling spicy. Thank you for this comment (seriously)

Tom, it’s not your coffee withdrawal. EN does not publish politely worded comments to an article that challenges its framing of an issue or city figure. I have the screenshots to prove it. A few years ago, Bill Smith responded to my offer for an interview with a community group he did not like by literally closing a door in my face. Everyone should know that the City of Evanston provides $ support to this blog masquerading as journalism.

Thank you Meg. I had a terse conversation with Mr. Smith once regarding this. He regularly will reply to commenters (by emailing them) and refuse to post their comments, even if within their terms of service because he disagrees. Try saying something nice about Devon Reid and see how fast he replies to reject your comment...

No worries, Tom. Your voice is becoming one of importance. I just want to see our society stop lumping people into groups. You read this or post that you must be X. You have this sign in your yard so therefore you are a X. People can have nuanced views. And let’s debate them. That person is a

Shitposter because they are a shit poster and not related to anything else imo. I can think our leadership at D65 is failing and support equity at the same time. Let’s graduate to a higher form of public debate in this community and rise above the two sides using us as sheep with 140 character blasts meant to enrage us. 🙏

Thank you for this reminder. These are the kind of comments I appreciate.

Tom --I very much appreciate this post but just wanted to note two things that seem to have come up in the comments: (1) It’s not just EN that censors comments and sometimes refuses to post submitted comments --I actually know many who have experienced the same with The Roundtable. It doesn’t make it right, but thought that was noteworthy. (2) I very much believe that this is all a signal of something bigger. What an indictment on Evanston that EN is getting such a flurry of engagement (40/50+ comments on some articles) & the only way that’s happening is bc ppl can post anonymously! We’re not in a great place as a city and it’s a shame bc all this fight and anger and divisiveness --it’s all such a gigantic waste of time. And we’ll, when it comes to the kids, don’t get me started...Anyway, just thought I’d chime in. Thank you for what you are doing...it matters.

And just to be clear. You weren't banned because of your politics. You were banned because you were driving everything off topic, bringing up national politics non-sense, and using words like "the transgenders" - If you can't be respectful, go back to 4chan.
